Consultant for telecom operators

Ramboll has been extensively involved in masts and towers. We are consultants for telecom administrations in many countries – both for manufactures of masts and towers and for mobile communication operators. Innumerable masts and towers of all types and dimensions bear the Ramboll stamp. These range from lightweight lampposts and antenna masts, to heavy communication towers in rough regions and 320-metre guyed radio and television masts.

An eye for aesthetics

With rapid growth in new towers for mobile networks, the visual appearance of towers is growing in importance as building permits become harder to get. Aesthetics have always been an essential component of our designs. One example is the ID-tower series, which was developed in cooperation with esteemed Danish architects KHR A/S.

Balancing mast and tower aesthetics with durable design is also crucial – since the structures are exposed to dynamic wind loads. As professional consultants for masts and towers, we provide the most reliable structures with a long service life.

Active in improving standards

Ramboll actively contributes to national and international committees and working groups. These are concerned with the development of new standards and recommendations in the field of masts and towers. For instance, Ramboll is heavily engaged in the IASS Working Group for Masts and Towers. We have also been deeply involved in the development of the ISO standard on atmospheric icing (ISO 12494) and the European code on towers and masts (EN 1993:3-1).
