The mast base
The mast base is pinned to the foundation offering a simple mast base foundation that is not sensitive to possible settlements of the foundation. The mast base foundation for soil conditions is a concrete slab with a vertical concrete column for supporting the mast bearing. The mast foundation has quite small dimensions so it can easily be prefabricated and transported on normal truck.
The guy foundation slabs can easily be prefabricated.
Ramboll can deliver both prefabricated mast and guy foundations.
Climbing ladder and cable ladder is normally an integrated unit.
The standard solution
The standard solution is cable steps per 600 mm and ladder steps per 300 mm. The ladder steps are solid round bars, and the width of the steps is 400 mm. The cable steps are small U-profiles, and the width of the steps is not less than 250 mm on both sides of the climbing ladder, providing a total width for cables of 500 mm. Cables and feeders can be fixed to the cable steps on both sides providing a capacity for many cables and feeders. The ladder is placed inside the cross section.
A safety rail can be fixed to the steps of the climbing ladder. Safety rail is normally included in Rambøll delivery.
Costumer specified climbing ladder and cable ladder solutions is possible; such as ladder with back guards or other types of cable steps.
If MW-antennas with strict rotation requirement are mounted on the mast a torsion restraint using 6 guys in a guy level may be necessary.
Based upon an analysis of the total costs of the structure including delivery, erection and foundation works guyed masts have shown to be significant less expensive than towers; especially for heights above 42 m.
