"Having wanted to work with international donor-funded projects for some time, a few years back I responded to International Consulting's advertisement for new colleagues. With a background in political science and development studies, the job as a consultant matched my profile perfectly, and so far I have had every opportunity to make use of it," Marie Louise explains.
Working within her area of expertise
Marie Louise’s main area of expertise is public administration reform and good governance, with particular emphasis on public procurement. She is involved in all aspects of our public administration reform activities from market surveillance to project implementation.
Currently, Marie Louise is leading a three-member expert team from Ramboll in designing and pilot testing a performance management system for the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) in Uganda. Here, the team is to design and pilot test a system for measuring the procurement performance of central government institutions. The team will also provide intensive training to relevant PPDA staff looking to enhance the authority's capacity to utilise the system for continuous monitoring and managing the performance results.
“Public procurement is at the centre of how public money is spent. Ineffective and opaque procurement can lead to enormous waste of public money resulting in poor service delivery to the public. In order to improve the way public money is spent, you have to get a systematic overview of how the money is used. This way it becomes possible to identify which measures are needed to get increased value for money. This is what we are currently working on in Uganda,” Marie Louise says.

Marie Louise is not in doubt about what she likes about working for Ramboll: "To me Ramboll offers an ideal balance between a constant flow of new professional challenges on the one hand, and on the other hand an invaluable flexibility to shape your own job according to your personal needs.
